Welcome to our Equine Health Plans.

Here at The Acorn’s Equine Clinic we know that owning a healthy and happy horse, requires care and attention. We have created our Equine Health Plans to make preventive health care both simple and affordable.

We have included vaccinations to protect your horse against the infectious diseases (Equine Flu and tetanus), a strategic worming programme together with an annual check-up, (as early diagnosis of health conditions should help your horse to live a longer and healthier life).

Please note that Our Equine Health Plans – are not Equine insurance, nor are they intended to replace veterinary insurance. They are designed to complement it, (by covering treatment that is not covered by normal veterinary insurance policies) and they can be taken out even if your horse is not insured.

They cover the essential treatments your horse is going to need throughout his life. By spreading the costs of those treatments, it makes looking after your horse more affordable and gives you access to the following benefits.

Both (the ‘Essential’ and the ‘Elite’) plans include the following:

One free annual visit (NB. charges may apply for areas outside zones 1-4)
One annual vaccination against Equine influenza and Tetanus.
One annual health check to include an examination of the eyes, heart, lungs, and limbs with a trot up to check for lameness.
One annual dental check and routine rasping, (sedation included).
A faecal worm egg count, every 3 months.

In addition:

‘The Elite plan’: also includes,

Full Equine MOT:
Annual routine haematology (blood test).
Weight check and body condition score.
10% off wormers (only for horses on our health plans).
10% off long term medication (selected products) only for horses on our health plan. For details please check with the practice.

These Equine Health Plans help you save on your horse’s routine care and much more:

Your first payment will be taken by card today. Your Direct Debit will be set up in 10 working days and collected on the date you select.

Please note:

The benefits only accrue after we have received at least four payments under the terms of these plans.
Visit charges apply in areas more than 40-mile radius from the clinic.

Notes:

There is a joining administration fee of £10.00 per horse owner, collected with the first Direct Debit.
Discounts apply to long term medication (eg, Prascend, NSAIDS, Hestevard supplements etc).
If you cancel any time other than the anniversary of the plan, you will be required to pay the practice either the outstanding amount for treatment received, or the monthly payments due until the anniversary of your plan, (whichever is lower).
No refunds are payable for any months paid before a horse’s death, except at the discretion of the practice.
Plans and prices are valid from the first of April 2021.
The practice may require you to make an upfront payment or to pay for treatment before the plan commences.
